Vesi Developments were an equal investment partner in this residential development project, ‘Rowlock’, at Nundah. Jason Hedges performed the role of Development Manager, and Project Director, whilst an owner and Director at bureau proberts. The site included an existing protected house, which was retained, refurbished and subdivided (freehold) from the original site. New two-storey townhouses were developed on the rear of the site. All dwellings were sold prior to the completion of the project.
The project incorporated a number of innovations that enabled development on the relatively small site and added value to the end product. Garages incorporated battened timber panel lift doors that incorporated integrated entry gates. This facilitated adequate vehicle turning space to the garages on the compact site. The battened timber panel doors also enabled the garages to be used as multi-purpose spaces, and combined with internal sliding glass doors, for each townhouse to be fully cross ventilated.
The project was commended in the 2015 Brisbane Region, and Queensland, Australian Institute of Architects Awards. The awards jury noted that “… the project proves that quality architecture can be achieved in this budget driven sector of the housing market”.
